there was a thread on private versus public the other day that might also benefit from some perspective on big versus small public schools. This link will take you to a website that maintains a NAEP score data base. In the top 10 NAEP score HSs only number 9 and 10 in the ranking were over 205 students. Mill Valley and Blue Valley came in at those spots. You want to feel bad for a bunch of parents and kids go through the whole rankings till you hit the bottom and look at how many kids in really big schools are at the bottom of the heap.

It is why I burned political capital to get the Corporate Tax Credit for Private School tuition contributions through in Topeka. Only applies to kids in these low performing schools but is a way to get them out of the mess. If you know of a deserving youngster in one of those systems whose parent'(s) income is below 185% of FPL let me know and I will help them find a sponsor.

Nothing in it for me by the way except a chance to help a kid. (I only add this because there tends to be a group of cynics on here)
