Just saw in an email from the Ahearn Fund, that K-State Athletics is ending their request of the student subsidy they receive each year (has been as low as $400K in recent years). Makes K-State Athletics one of only 8 athletic departments in the entire country which does not receive/require support from either its students, or school at-large (taxpayers).

A lot of other programs (looking at you Arizona State) are bleeding cash and going the other way and extorting money from their students to keep up in the athletics arms race.

A lot of things going on at the 'ol Alma Mater that I wish were better, but this is one small thing I'm pretty damn proud of.
