first positive, I believe everyone is still talking about the historic win (their coach was still interviewing this morning). Fact of the matter, it would have been nearly impossible for the UMBC players not to celebrate a tad too long.
K-State on the other hand had a big win, but had to be taken back by the upset and were 100% focused on UMBC when their heads hit the pillow last night.
To me the biggest key to UMBC's historic win, besides shooting the ball very well, was how quickly they moved the ball around. Virginia's defense was chasing the ball all over the court (could not exert their will on UMBC because the ball was like a hot potato).
UMBC had 16 assists (UV had 5 assists).
And UMBC simply out worked and out hustled Virginia... the much smaller UMBC had 33 rebounds, Virginia had 22 rebounds.
In addition to an extended celebration, UMBC left it all out on the court and played the late game. Of course K-State played hard too, but the CATS should have fresher legs, especially in the 2nd half. But no doubt, UMBC will have the confidence to win after knocking off UV, K-State is going to need play at a high level.
