I'm right here
Not widely accepted here on the board (or with my drinking buddies), but it's the best way to get out of this mess.

Tell Bill he can stay on the sidelines and have his office forever. But relieve him of responsibilities. Let the coordinators have full control of their respective areas. One of these young guys will emerge as the best next head coach.

As AD, I would have laid down the law at the start of the season, or at least during the bye weeks.

I would do head coach by committee for the rest of this season, then if I think the coaches need more time to develop--I would bring in a seasoned guy to mentor. Like a Craig Bohl. Use his experience to offset the lack of experience of the others.

I don't like the idea of bringing in all new blood. Too disruptive and almost guarantees a four year rebuilding program. Also a big risk with anyone not familiar with the current program. New hires are hard--Turner Gill was someone we would have taken at the time. Ron Prince started off with high expectations. Too many "hot" coaches crash and burn. And any new coach will want to bring in "his" guys.

Again, I think the answer is with the current group. We just waited a year or two too long.
