Got to talking about this with someone the other day. Which scenario would you rather have for K-State, as it pertains to athletic performance?
A) Be "ok" and "competitive" in most major sports, but not good enough to win titles on a national stage or garner national attention.
-or-
B) Be absolutely elite at one sport, and suck at most other things.
Because, we fall under Scenario A right now, and KU follows under Scenario B. I think national perception is that K-State is the little brother to KU due to the dominance and national appeal of their basketball program. But, most followers nationally probably don't realize their athletic department, for the most part, is a hot freaking mess.
Honestly, I think I'd rather have a single elite program to hang our hats on, rather than just a handful of mediocre ones. I'd love for opposing fans to be jealous of us over something. Not sure anyone is jealous of us, regarding anything we do, right now.
