High School FG attempt. 4th down.
Team A attempts the FG, Team B blocks it, picks the ball up, and starts to advance downfield unimpeded. An official mistakenly blows the play dead at this moment, as if it’s a failed PAT. Inadvertent whistle. They award the ball back to Team A at the original LOS, and replay the down. Shouldn’t it have been Team B’s ball at the spot the scooped block FG was blown dead?
Or is there a technicality I’m unaware of here?
