I finally had my prostate biopsy performed last Monday. We meet with the urologist on Tuesday for followup but my pathology report showed up on my Cox Health (my Medicare Plus provider) webpage today. 8 of 12 samples show cancer with 4 having a Gleason score of 8. Prostate cancer is scored 1-10 with a Gleason score of 10 being the most aggressive. Luckily it appears to be contained to the prostate itself so that's good. I'm 66 and in good health other than being a fat old man. I am curious to hear from anyone here who has been through this or is knowledgeable about it. I want to be well prepared for our meeting with good questions as I know there are a variety of treatments for this ranging fom prostate removal to radiation and other procedures. And what Medicare will pay for is a factor.
