What if Texas went independent, and OU stayed? OU would become the de facto leader in the conference. Would that be enough to maintain the competitive stature of the conference? If so, would the perception of the conference change in a way that would allow it to attract better additions and become more viable long term? I know this isn't going to happen--just interesting speculation.
