Reminds me of a funny story.
Probably around 2004 or 2005, I went to a catching camp in Wichita and at the reception for the national collegiate catcher of the year award dinner, I got to chat with Johnny Bench for a bit. I was 14 or 15.
When he found out I was a catcher he asked if I always wore a cup. I said yes.
He replied, "Wear two."
He went on to say he had some experience with cups shattering in the majors and always told younger players to make sure they were appropriately protected.
I get they can slow you down out there, but I'm not sure I'd be caught dead in the majors without one 😂
