And that is a deep, fundamental problem on many levels for this program at this stage and an indictment of a complete failure to recruit the most important position on the field with sufficient talent.
Frankly, it's completely inexcusable that a program of our stature is in this position. And there is no reason whatsoever that we should ever have had to rely on two players at signal caller that didn't receive a single other Division 1 offer, in Jesse Ertz's case, not even an offer from Northern Iowa.
I mean, we can look at the last place offensive ranking and question the mystifying play calling all day. This is plain and simple a talent issue.
A kid that did not have a single D1 offer out of the state of Iowa and another that wasn't even in the Rivals recruiting database???
