After watching the game last night...or any of the last five games that we've lost, it is painfully clear (not that it wasn't already) that we simply do not have near the amount of Big XII caliber ball players.

This got me to thinking...What would happen to me (or you), if there was an integral part of my job that I not only didn't excel at, but just plain didn't devote the amount of time needed to ever achieve a high level of success?

Would the fact that I excelled in other areas of the job be enough?

Another way I thought about it was in comparison to a sales position.

In sales, you must constantly be filling the pipeline with prospects...and not just any prospects, but prospects that offer a mutually beneficial, long term relationship. The moment you stop seeking new opportunities you will pay dearly for it...not this month, maybe not even next month...but in the future, you will feel the pain of not having done the necessary task of keeping your pipeline full.

Can KSU, as a program, succeed long term with a staff that doesn't spend the necessary amount of time on something as important as filling the pipeline? Is it enough to be great in other areas, such as game prep, player development, and motivation?
