That committee isn't picked from the average fan in the stands, average graduate, or member of this board and well may not represent their views. In the case of Kansas State and like many of the California and East Coast schools probably have a much more liberal bent. The committee is often chosen to include a student body member...who usually are those guys, Carlin, Brownback...major donors who run with a different crowd, and academic members...and I'm willing to guess that there are more D's than R's registered in that group. And who they choose will determine hiring and firing and thus the direction our University takes.
We got really lucky with our new Pres. He was chosen as an interim with the understanding that he wouldn't apply for the job, but was so darn good that he had to be taken. Hopefully he will continue to guide our school down the path it has been on for over a hundred years. Otherwise we could be doomed to what we saw with the last Pres and AD.
So don't just post here what you want. You need to contact members of the committee in a reasoned manner and let them know what you want KSU to continue to be. Otherwise when you lose a strong leader like HCBS sports can fall apart with a JC and academics led by a KS can be such that you might as well send your kids to KU or liberal nests like Reed College or such.
