I know that offensive linemen aren't given much attention as to publicity or awards. Trying to find player cards of offensive linemen in the NFL is usually rare in relationship to any other position on the field. The number of cards of players that are kickers and punters is more common than offensive linemen. We have kickers in our ring of honor. Yet no offensive linemen? Yet, it is pretty certain without a good offensive line you won't have a offense. It is the linemen, the grunts in the trenches, that protect the quarterback and give the running backs a hole to run through. Without a good offensive line QB's can't find the time to let WR and TE get open on their pass routes or to open holes for the QB's to scramble through. I see it as a terrible injustice to note that there is not one offensive lineman on the Kansas State Ring of Honor!

It's not like we haven't had many that were good enough not only at Kansas State but also on into the pros to bring glory to our University. I'll just start with the Vince Gibson era, because before that I'm not familiar with the teams or players as that is when I arrived in Manhattan. We had several good linemen while Vince Gibson was the head coach, among the best Lynn Larson, Ron Yankowski, and Ira Gordon, (All of which also played in the pros, some for years) In the early 70's, Mo Latimore was playing for K-State (Mo was not only a very good lineman he has been a very faithful assistant coach over the years at Kansas State. Moving on into the Bill Snyder era I'll name just a few stand-outs all deserving recognition. The list includes Barrett Brooks, Nick Leckey, Todd Weiner, Ryan Young, and Jareomey Clary. Others that have not been out of school the required five years include the great B. J. Finney, and Cody Whitehair, and possibly Boston Stiverson. and Matt Kliensorgie in the near future.

I'm sure there other linemen that were stars at Kansas State and more that went on to play in the pros. Please feel free to add which offensive linemen you think belongs on the Ring of Honor. If for no other reason that letting offensive linemen know they are appreciated at Kansas State and deserving of recognition as much as any other position on the field, I feel like there should be serious consideration to adding at least a couple of former offensive linemen to the ring of Honor and should be done now! Who knows it might help recruitment if they know their services are valued at Kansas State? Offensive linemen have been long over due for more respect for their importance on the team and to be recognized for what they do. Don't you think we need to correct this glaring omission in the ring of Honor? Will you speak up for the unsung heroes? What say you?
