I have never been a big Vargas fan but he is one option for the future. Tonight he pitched for Omaha and threw 5 2/3 innings and 83 pitches allowing 5 hits and 2 runs, but the best numbers were no walks and 10 K's. Since Gee has been pitching decently, I am not sure they will start Vargas in September, but he could be used in long relief. At least he appears to be healthy for next year if he is with the Royals.
