I was cleaning out some old files when I found this in a folder marked jokes, and with Big 12 media days winding down I thought It would be a good time to share it.
Two boys were playing football in a park in Lawrence, Kansas when one of the boys is suddenly attacked by a crazed Rottweiler. Thinking quickly, one of the boys takes a stick, shoves it under the dog's collar, twists it and breaks the dog's neck, saving his friend. A sports reporter who was strolling by sees the incident and rushes over to interview the boy. He tells the boy, "I'll title it 'Young Jayhawk Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal' ". "But I'm not a Jayhawk fan," the little hero replies. "Sorry, since we are in Lawrence I just assumed you were," says the reporter, and he starts writing again. "How does 'Chiefs Fan Rescues Friend from Horrific Attack' sound?" I'm not a Chiefs fan either," replies the boy. "Oh I thought everyone in Kansas was either for the Jayhawks or the Chiefs. What team do you root for?" the reporter asks. "I'm a Wildcats Fan," the boy replies. "They're the best!" The Reporter smiles, starts a new page in his notebook and writes: Little Bastard From Manhattan Kills Beloved Family Pet!"
