This is an important hire and one I feel shouldn't necessarily come from the academic world with the potential issues KState will face in the near future. What we need is a leader, but a leader that is invested in the future success of KState. That means we need someone from the KState family.
The following problems I feel HCBS is uniquely the most qualified person to lead the KState ship on. This is due to the immense respect he commands in the state of Kansas and in the sporting community.
University budget shortfalls
Realignment
Expansion
Making KState alumni and students feel they are part of a family again
Basketball coach
AD (Currie is good as gone)
Football coach
Future KState academic projects (coach loves molding future minds)
Making the faculty feel like the administration cares again
Stop silly apologies for things we never should have apologized for
