I get all the religious and cultural arguments against homosexuality. I don't happen to agree with them, but I understand them. I also get that people are upset that the standards for heroism have been reduced to being gay and talking about it. I'd probably stop short of calling it heroic too. It does take stones, though. It is brave to come out of the closet in front of a hundred of your peers, and you're kidding yourself if you think it isn't.
What I don't get is why some people feel the need to lecture him about it. For one thing, he didn't do anything wrong. He didn't choose to be gay, but even if it was a choice, so what? Isn't being able to live your life without other people bothering you something we all want? And it's not like he's doing it for attention. We all know coach wouldn't have let this happen if he wasn't doing it for the right reasons. And as someone who struggles at times to find satisfaction and purpose, for the life of me, I cannot understand why you'd bitch about him doing something that he feels will help him lead a happier, more fulfilling life.
