I had a conversation with Todd Weiner about a few things.
I asked about Austin and he said he was coaxed to move on. Probably not a surprise to many. Todd was not upset about it. Btw, Austin landed at La.-Monroe. He said weight wise Austin ahead of what he was at comparable age. He said Austin now in the 270-80 range.
Todd was 215 coming out of a Florida high school and was around a 300 pound left tackle and an All American in 1997.
He said K-State does not want to spend 3-4 years developing players when they can get a game ready player from portal.
I asked about his recruitment in the mid-90s. He wanted to go to Miami, FSU or Florida but they did not recruit him. Those schools were in their heyday. His main contact from K-State was Bob Stoops. Stoops also responsible for Darren Howard, Mike Lawrence and Eric Hickson. I am sure more.
I saw Todd at my gym in Manhattan and he likes Kleinman. I don't know what he was doing in town.
