Nebraska has hired former Cornhusker Trev Alberts as its new athletic director, the school announced on Wednesday. Alberts will replace Bill Moos, who retired on June 30.
Alberts, 50, was a linebacker at Nebraska from 1990 to 1993 and earned All-American honors. He was the No. 5 pick by the Indianapolis Colts in the 1994 NFL Draft and played three seasons with the team.
A former Butkus Award winner, Alberts has been the AD at University of Nebraska Omaha since 2009.
Alberts takes over for Moos, who was named Nebraska's AD in 2017 and was responsible for hiring Cornhuskers football coach Scott Frost in 2017 and basketball coach Fred Hoiberg in 2019."
