That is like running the MIAA at the moment.

Yesterday while watching hoops, I was thinking about what the western part of the country had to offer in terms of potential NCAA tourney teams. Really had no idea where the PAC-12 stood honestly.

I forget who said it on the air yesterday, but potentially 10 teams out of the Big 10, with another 10 from the ACC? Yikes.

Imo, those are arguably the two best conferences this year, so 20/29 makes sense. And lines up with the 7/10 the Big Xii likely gets in.

They’re not much better in football.

There was an article in the San Jose paper last week about how the football talent in California is declining as participation drops. Going from memory I think they said it has dropped 15% over the past three years, and it's speculated that it's due to the head trauma issue. California has been the main repository of talent for the Pac 12 as Texas has been for the Big 12, so that is a big problem.
However, since trends seem to start in California and spread across the country, it may be a harbinger for the rest of the country.
