Underwood and Tang seem to be the top 2 targets right now with McCasland falling due to his lack of interest (?)
A comparison I find interesting is between Drew Valentine and Kim English.
Valentine hadn't been brought up until a few days ago and in a recent poll by Bruce4Life asking "I’d be energized about the future of K-State basketball if Gene pulled in " 38.8% voted for Valentine while only 16.5% voted for English.
Valentine:
30 Years Old
'13-'15 Michigan State (GA): 1 Final 4, 1 Elite 8, 1 Big Ten Champ
'15-'17 Oakland (AC): 1 NIT
'17-'21 Loyola Chicago (AC) - 1 Final 4, 1 Sweet 16, 3 MVC Champs, Lead the defense his last two years.
'21-Present Loyola Chicago (HC) - 25-7, MVC Tourney Champs, NCAA 10 seed
P5 HC wins: Arizona St, DePaul, Vanderbilt
P5 HC losses: Michigan St (61-63), Auburn (53-62)
English
34 Years old
'15-'17 Tulsa (AC): - 1 NCAA Tourney
'17-'19 Colorado (AC):
'19-'21 Tennessee (AC): 1 NCAA Tourney
'21-Present George Mason (HC): 14-16
P5 HC wins: @Maryland, @Georgia,
P5 HC losses: Washington (74-77), @Kansas (67-76)
Valentine has 0 P5 experience as an assistant while Kim has 4. Kim is probably the better recruiter so I just don't get why Valentine is viewed so much more favorably? Is it because of their records in their lone year of HC experience? Valentine took over a team that went 26-5 the year prior and went to the Sweet 16, meanwhile George Mason has won 20 games once since joining the A-10 in '13-'14 and went 13-9 last year. The A-10 is also a much better conference than the MVC. I think i'd be ok with either if we missed on Brad, Tang, etc.
