  • Team got back on Saturday and have practiced a few days.
  • Only 10 including walk-ons were available for practice.
  • Covid testings happened this afternoon (sounds like they went well). I expect game to be a go.
  • Montavious Murphy got back to practice for the first time in almost a month. Long shot that he plays tomorrow. If he does it will only be a minimal amount of minutes. Hope is to get him going when conference play starts back up on Saturday.
  • Luke Kasubke has been able to do no contact practice consisting of individual drills and 5 on 0.
  • Kaosi Ezeagu has just now started to run but still has yet to try putting a lot of force from jumping.
  • Team didn’t watch film on the Baylor game before taking down Jacksonville going into Christmas break. However, yesterday morning the coaches did have them watch the Baylor loss to help them learn they have to play at the highest level to compete in the Big 12. Then had them watch Jacksonville win to show them what they are capable of when they move the ball and do things right. Coach would like to see turnovers be cut down from last game but overall likes how the Jacksonville game went.
  • Even though it was only four days that the team missed for break there was still some rust they had to kick off when they got back to practice.
  • Coaches loves Seryee Lewis’ athleticism. Says it is elite. Needs to learn more and get a better understanding of the game.
  • Scout on Omaha: Versatile guards and senior forward, Matt Pile, who won defensive player of the year in Summit league a year ago averaging a double double. Pile went to Goddard Eisenhower in Wichita. Coach says he is physical and knows how to play. Omaha likes to get in the paint and post up with their bigs or beat you off the dribble and create for others inside. It will be important for the Cats to jump out to an early lead.
  • Coach sees the progress that has been made as the season has gone along. Have to be way better defensively especially with how good the Big 12 looks. They want to win games and stay positive and know that they may have to switch things up scheme wise in order to do so, while also keeping the core principles in place to help them in the long run.
  • Selton Miguel may be used more on the ball on defense because of his strength and determination. Nijel Pack wants to be a good defender but he is still getting used to the speed and physical of the college game.
  • Pack shoots insanely well in practice. The slump he fell into was from conditioning and maybe a minor loss in confidence. He has a great feel for the game and a good assist to turnover ratio. If he can shoot the way the staff thinks he is capable of (40-45 3pt%) he can be a really dangerous player.
