Here are my impressions.
(1) KSU did not play terrible. Obviously KSU did not have a great day but merely an average showing. La Tech did have an good showing for that team.
(2) If KSU does not fumble inside the 10 they likely score a TD. On that play there was a push by the O-line and very possible Dimel scores. Also get the feeling that if KSU did score a TD on that posession that the game would have turned out much differently.
(3) KSU run defense was outstanding. Holding Dixon to 86 yards is impressive. Dixon is a stud.
(4) Tackling by the secondary was a problem.
(5) McDaniel had a very bad game--consistently missing tackles and below average coverages.
(6) Biggest plays for La Tech were consistently QB bootleg around the end. Bryant pulled late in the game for giving up contain multiple times. Obviously Bryant wasnt the only player to lose contain but very costly this game. Woods did not lose contain when he took Bryant's spot. Message sent.
(7) La Tech with multiple interior rush blitzes negated KSU attempt to run inside. ? playcalling
(8) Driscoll had a good game. Made multiple good throws and rarely threw into coverage--a habit of his. La Tech lived off the short pass and YAC--once again poor tackling.
(9) KSU almost lost the game on Heath's fumble. Once again-if KSU just fields the ball cleanly look for KSU to have great field position. Instead of having the ball at midfield and taking control of the game they
found themselves inside the 15.
(10) Cantele was nails
(11) O line with good day pass blocking. For the most part Hub had more than enough time and only a few times was pressured. Inconsistent run blocking--once again ? playcalling in situations hindering success.
(12) Drops by the WR are absolutely killing KSU offensive consistency.
(13) Red zone playcalling way too predictable. Needs work.
