Way OT- Weber Grill Question

So I have a year old Weber Spirit Gas grill and I have noticed that the inside of the grill lid is peeling. Black pieces are peeling and it gets worse each time I grill. Is this normal? I use it a lot and it always has a cover when not being used. Thoughts?
