The whole thing about Bill telling people he will be back next year is him saying that knowing that when he does retire, he will still have a position in the AD and will still have the ability to influence and mentor the players? So even if he was to retire this year, or the next or the next, he can always tell recruits that that he will be back, because in a sense, he will always be around until he is physically unable.
