What makes a post(er) negative?

I see a lot of people accusing others of making "negative" posts...or being "negative" posters.

I'm curious...In a discussion where there can be no black and white answer, like 2+2=5, where all you have is differing opinions on a situation that couldn't be more fluid, how do we decide which post(er) is "negative" and which is "positive"?
