Before the season I predicted that because of OUs unbelievably easy schedule that they were likely to make it to Arlington. But after this year's results, I am starting to believe that unless you have a top 10 team, your ability to make the championship game is almost solely reliant on the difficulty of schedule.
Let's look at OU and OSU as examples in favor of this theory.

OU--As of today OUs conference foes are a combined 34-38. Assuming that the favorites win this weekend OUs foes would have been a staggering 39-42

OSU--As of today OSUs conference foes are a combined 33-39. Even worse than OU!! Once again assuming that the favorites win this weekend their foes would only be 38-43.

Compare this to KSU--Today conference foes are at 36-36. After this weekend probable records have KSU foes at 41-40.

This begs the question if OU or OSU would have a better record at this time with KSU's schedule??

I believe it is highly likely that either one or both of these teams would have had an extra loss at this point in time.
