BREAKING: Nae’Qwan Tomlin no longer with MBB team

Statement from AD Gene Taylor:

“We have heard the concerns and the questions from K-State fans and friends around Nae’Qwan Tomlin’s indefinite suspension from the men’s basketball team. Situations like these are difficult. We know you want answers, but federal privacy laws largely prohibit the University and K-State Athletics from publicly discussing specific information around circumstances like this. Those laws are in place to protect our student-athletes, and more specifically in this instance, to protect Nae’Qwan as he is working through a process designed to support him and lift him out of a difficult time. Allowing for that space and time is critical, but in today’s digital age, that unfortunately can lead to the spread of rumors and misinformation — and in this case, much of the information on social media is incorrect.

I have been monitoring this situation and overseeing Nae’Qwan’s suspension with Coach Tang’s involvement. While we cannot share the specifics that have led to this outcome due to the reasons stated above, K-State Athletics can now share that Nae’Qwan Tomlin will no longer be able to continue with the K-State men’s basketball team. This decision was not made lightly by me, but it is the decision warranted by the circumstances that brought it to bear.

We appreciate your passion for our men’s basketball team and for Nae’Qwan. Please know that together, we stand united to do what is best for this young man’s personal development and growth — and to do what is best to uphold the values of our teams and our university at large.”

Nae'Qwan.....help us out.....

NO IDEA WHY THIS PRINTED TWICE.....MY APOLOGIES!

There are SO many fans and followers of your athletic abilities, Nae'Qwan, and count me in for sure! It was shocking news that the decision had been made to no longer allow you to be part of the K-State basketball team. Since there is so much "cover" in the allowance of confidentiality and privacy for the coaches, AD and president of our university, I'm thinking it would be best to hear it from the most reliable source......YOU! What can you share that would help us to understand that this is (or is not) a fair verdict? I understand you are graduating....huge congratulations! We will certainly miss you on the floor at the Octagon of Doom, but truly wish you the best in all future endeavors. EMAW

University president

After all of the talk about the university president yesterday, I started thinking about the flow of power into that - who has the decision making power to hire/fire a university president. Well - that would be the Kansas Board of Regents. Where do the Kansas Board of Regents get their power? They are appointed by the governor.

I don't know about anyone else, but I do NOT like the idea of politically appointed lackeys making decisions like that. The citizens should decide who will manage their publicly funded "educational" institutions as well as virtually every other postilion of authority in the state.

Some thoughts on K-State and what’s next after Klein’s departure

Kansas State will look different on offense next season after Collin Klein departs to Texas A&M, here are some initial thoughts on what’s next:

-Obviously, the biggest thing to watch is QB Avery Johnson. I had heard earlier that he was locked in with Kansas State but that was before his offensive coordinator left.

-Next is their current recruiting class, including quarterback Blake Barnett. I’ve already shot a text to Barnett to see how this impacts his recruitment, and will let you know if I hear anything back.

-This is why you hire a Klieman. His appeal is his ability to handle turnover, both player and coaches, and keep the ship moving. Now, he has to go hire an OC in a critical year.
