K-State adds PWO D2 QB via transfer portal

Was the starter at Division 2 Washburn in 2022, throwing for 2,393 yards, 25 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. An injury forced him to miss most of this season.

He's the fourth QB on the roster for next season, but Kansas State only has two on an athletic scholarship: Blake Barnett and Avery Johnson. Jacob Knuth is on an academic scholarship.

They might take another QB to make the scholarship numbers work.

Curious about player status

McNair, Perry and Glover are 5th year seniors so their college years are done after this year.

N’Guessan is a senior so he can’t come back next year but could play somewhere else as a 5th year senior?

Carter and Kaluma are Juniors so they could test the waters for Pro status and they could come back next year.

The other 6 players are made up of 5 freshmen and 1 sophomore. Colbert is the sophomore and he either transferred in or came through the portal but I don’t know which.

We have one incoming freshman.

Based on the makeup of all the potentially returning players (in this day and age, who knows) we are in dire need of some “bigs”.

K-State ranked No. 12 in WBB AP Top 25 Poll

They move up one spot from 13, but it still feels low given they have a win against the No. 4 team in the country (Iowa), and their only loss is also to the Hawkeyes.

They should probably be in the Top 10, but there are still a few undefeated teams, and it's hard to drop Colorado, who has a win against LSU.

THE FULL POLL:

How good is this team

The men’s team seems to be establishing its identity. Carter, Kaluma, and Perry understand their roles. What this team needs is quality depth. Dai Dai certainly has the game to help out. So that leaves 3 more that need to impact the game. The three next would be Rich, Jones, and Rich.

Can this team make a run in Mach Madness!? Are they a sweet 16 team? My answer is yes!
