According to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo, the NCAA is set to increase the scholarship limits for five different sports, including football and basketball.
The change will mean that schools can offer the following number of scholarships per sport:
Football: 105 (20 more than the current limit)
Basketball: 15 (2 more than the current limit in men's basketball)
Baseball: 34 (22.3 more than the current limit)
Volleyball: 18
Softball: 25
There are also other sports that will may see increases in scholarship limits.
This is a pretty major move that could have impacts on high school recruiting
and the transfer portal for football and basketball. The baseball increase is significant, as it will allow for a full roster of scholarship players.
As part of the new revenue-sharing model, by-sport scholarship restrictions will be eliminated, and schools are permitted to offer scholarships to the entirety of their rosters.
