Starting in 2015 We have seen a new one man powerhouse in Hollywood known as Taylor Sheridan rise from obscurity. He started as an actor in small supporting roles, but has built his fame on his screenplays for movies he has written. More recently he has advanced to directing his own films from his own screenplays. It all started with the movie Sicario.

About a man running a Mexican drug cartel and those trying to bring him down. Screenplay by Taylor Sheridan.
2. Hell and High Water (2016)
A modern day western about two brothers turned bank robbers and the men trying to capture them. Written and directed by Taylor Sheridan. The movie gained critical acclaim including. a nomination for best picture and a golden Globe award.
3. Wind River (2017)
Another adventure into the modern American west. This time a woman FBI agent is called in to solve a murder mystery on the Wind River reservation. His movies often include strong women in critical situations. Again this film, done on a small budget garnered attention from film critics.Taylor's first film to shed light on the plight of native Americans living on modern day Indian reservations.
4. Yellowstone (2017)
Filmed and released on Paramount channel as a new TV series starring Kevin Costner.in summer 2018. Five million viewers tuned in to the first episode (pilot) second most viewers in the 2018 season behind only The Walking Dead Series It again is a modern day western set on the largest (fictional) ranch in Montana. Yellowstone ranch is under assault from land developers, and a nearby Indian Chief that is a head of a local native American owned casino and tribe that wants to take over the ranch, along with greedy local political factions. Kevin Costner plays the head of his family and he along with his children and employees have no intention of letting anyone bring the ranch down. Written and directed by Taylor Sheridan. Season two is being filmed and will appear in 2019.
5. Sicario Day of The Saldado (2018)
A sequel to Sicario. Written by Taylor Sheridan.These movies one and all capture your attention from the start. They leave you plenty to think about after the film ends and full of tension spread through intense action .I loved Wind River and Hell and High Water. Yellowstone I thought was the best TV series of 2018. If you haven't discovered the modern westerns of Taylor Sheridan it is time you did! I have no connection to Taylor Sheridan or his films. I'm just a fan.
