It is such a mixed bag with these conferences. The only thing I can say for sure right now is the ACC is dead last, by far.

This sums up each conference's performance in nonconf games. Wins vs Power-5 conf, losses vs P5, losses to Group of Five or FCS teams, and 'close calls'. I define that last looking solely at the final score and whether it is a single score game.

#1 SEC
P5 wins: North Carolina, Louisville, Arizona St, Wisconsin
P5 losses: Oklahoma
G5/FCS losses: Western Kentucky, Toledo
Close calls: UL-Lafayette, Jacksonville St, Arkansas St, East Carolina

#2 Big Ten
P5 wins: Stanford, Va Tech, Oregon St, Iowa St, Oregon
P5 losses: Utah, TCU, Bama, Wash St
G5/FCS losses: Temple, BYU, Marshall, Bowling Green
Close Calls: So Illinois, Colorado St

#3 PAC 12
P5 wins: Michigan, Virginia, Rutgers
P5 losses: Northwestern, Texas A&M, Michigan, Michigan St
G5/FCS losses: Hawaii, Boise St, Portland St
Close calls: none

#4 Big 12
P5 wins: Minnesota, Tennessee
P5 losses: Notre Dame, Iowa
G5/FCS losses: South Dakota St, Memphis
Close calls: none

#5 ACC
P5 wins: none
P5 losses: South Carolina, UCLA, Auburn, Ohio St, Notre Dame
G5/FCS losses: Houston
Close calls: Youngstown St

In the Big 12, Texas got humiliated and KU is just embarrassing. Everyone else is doing their part. Several opportunities remain: KU at Rutgers (lol), Tech at Arkansas, Texas vs Cal and WVU vs Maryland. There is also a danger game with ISU at Toledo. Perform well in these games and don't slip up somewhere else, and the conf can shoot up the rankings. For now, we haven't done enough to deserve anything higher IMO.

The SEC was very close to dropping, but they managed to escape with several close calls yesterday. The B1G gets the nod over the PAC because of Mich St over Oregon.
