Hey all,
I owe you guys an explanation of what's coming next, and I figure this is the best way to put it.
Recently, I was informed that my contract will be terminated on June 30th, ending over a year and a half run on this site. Obviously, I'm incredibly disappointed, and I wish I could continue covering Kansas State for y'all, but I understand the nature of this business, and I am proud to be able to stick with the company for close to two years.
When I took over, I was a recent college graduate just looking for a chance to chase my dream. I didn't know that my first opportunity would be an awesome one and a half years covering a university with such dedicated fans and support. It's been everything I could imagine and then some, and I am forever grateful for that. I am thankful to many people for granting me this opportunity, but I want to start with all of you, who have stayed and supported my work even as someone with no ties to K-State, Manhattan, or the sports programs. I also want to thank my three staff writers: Grant, Jake, and Kamden, who continued to stick by me through thick and thin. They deserve the world.
I know it wasn't always perfect, but I hope I adequately covered K-State athletics for all of you. I was always learning, trying to improve and grow, and do right by all of you -- because this fanbase will always deserve that.
I'm unsure what my future (or the site's) holds, but I am confident the site will be in good hands. In the meantime, I intend to continue covering the university as long as possible. I will continue to write articles and recapping K-State's run in the College World Series, and will likely have a few features and in-depth analysis pieces to write. As for the site, I'm confident it will be in good hands in the future, and I urge you guys to stick it out.
As for me, I'm confident my next chapter will be great. I learned a lot covering K-State and from all of you. If you hear of anything, don't hesitate to contact me on X/Twitter (@TheKevinFielder)
